Robert Rice was elected April 15, 2011 by his peers to serve a three-year term as a Third Division Commissioner of the Utah State Bar, the body that represents Utah lawyers. Mr. Rice will be sworn in July 8, 2011 at the Utah Bar’s Summer Convention. Mr. Rice will join twelve other lawyers and non-lawyers who lead Utah’s governing body for lawyers.

Mr. Rice is a shareholder at Ray Quinney and Nebeker, where he has practiced in the firm’s employment section for eighteen years. Mr. Rice is also an experienced commercial litigator, representing clients in business disputes, trade secret litigation and oil and gas matters. Mr. Rice is past president of the Salt Lake County Bar, the Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake, and is a current member of the Local Rules Committee for the United States District Court for the District of Utah.

The Utah Bar governs attorney licensing, discipline and admissions into the Bar. The Bar’s executive director and staff run the day-to-day operations of the Bar under the supervision of the Bar Commission.
