“Securing” Your 401(k) Plan

The Secure Act and Secure Act 2.0 made significant changes to various rules affecting 401(k) plans and other qualified retirement plans, some of which are already effective and others which become effective in 2024 and later years. Mr. Madsen will discuss some of the more significant changes, including changes pertaining to required minimum distributions, catch-up contributions, Roth deferrals, long-time part-time employee required participation, automatic enrollment and the IRS correction program.

Trusts and Retirement Accounts: How Secure is your Beneficiary Designation?

As will be discussed in the presentation by Mr. Madsen, the Secure Act and Secure Act 2.0 made significant changes to the rules governing retirement accounts. These changes include modifying how those rules will be applied to a retirement account passing to a trust. Mr. Stephenson will discuss how to integrate your retirement accounts with your overall estate plan, including what to consider when designating a trust as a beneficiary of a retirement account.
