This week, the RQN trial team of Jeffrey W. Appel, Matthew N. Evans, and Korinne Hale obtained a jury verdict of 18.7 million dollars in favor of their clients, the Lowe family, against the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). UDOT had taken a portion of the Lowe family’s land in Hurricane, Utah by eminent domain for the development of segment 5 of the Southern Parkway.

The RQN trial team successfully argued that not only was UDOT required to pay for the actual taking of the land, but because the Parkway significantly reduced their access and the value of the remaining property owned by the Lowes, UDOT was required to pay the Lowes significantly more for the taking than had been previously offered by UDOT.

After a six-day trial, the jury returned the verdict in favor of the Lowes for 18.7 million dollars.
