Chris Hallstrom centers his practices on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution. Mr. Hallstrom has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of applications for inventions across a diversity of range technology areas.

Chris’ practice emphasizes navigating the complex areas procedures and personnel of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to obtain quality, enforceable patents. Chris has extensive experience interviewing hundreds of cases and working with Patent Examiners to streamline patent prosecution and obtain valuable patents.
Additionally, Chris has extensive experience overcoming challenging patent issues including rejections based on 35 U.S.C. §101 and 35 U.S.C. §103. In particular, Chris has significant experience with both patent Examiners and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in overcoming difficult rejections.
Mr. Hallstrom represents clients ranging from small clients, such as solo inventors and startup companies, to large international clients. For all clients, Chris leverages his knowledge and experience in counseling clients, advising on patent portfolio management, and making strategic decisions for protecting a company’s or inventor’s Intellectual Property rights.
Chris obtained his law degree from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law where he graduated with honors. He was also a William H. Leary Scholar and served as president of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association. Additionally, Chris participated in the Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court (IP Moot Court) competition where he was awarded best briefs in the western region. Chris was also an articles editor on the Utah Environmental Law Review.
Prior to law school Chris graduated from Brigham Young University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Information Technology and Economics. He also received numerous awards and scholarships while attending Brigham Young University, including membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society and Tau Alpha Pi.
