This month, Ray Quinney & Nebeker welcomed attorney Brett Parkinson to the firm. Mr. Parkinson focuses his practice on wildfire litigation, and is a member of the Firm’s Litigation, Personal Injury and White Collar Criminal Defense Sections
Prior to joining RQN, Mr. Parkinson served as a federal prosecutor in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah. While there, he oversaw investigations, managed prosecutions and tried a wide variety of criminal matters. He also served as Section Chief of the Immigration Unit, International Coordinator, and Coordinator of Utah’s Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.
After leaving the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2011, Mr. Parkinson joined a boutique law firm in San Diego County, where he broadened his legal practice to represent individuals harmed by the negligence of others, including personal injury, pharmaceutical, mass tort, disability, and other litigation matters. Through this experience he has handled numerous civil and criminal trials.
Over time Mr. Parkinson’s personal injury practice has evolved into a niche area of wildfire litigation. For the past eight years he has represented hundreds of individuals and business owners who lost homes and/or had property destroyed by wildfires started through the negligence of a third party. As an of counsel attorney, Mr. Parkinson will continue representing those tragically impacted by the recent wildfires in California and help his clients navigate the complex legal process ahead.
