Emily Nuvan is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Section, focusing on securities litigation, white collar crime, and criminal law. Emily also has prior experience in first-of-its-kind litigation involving cryptocurrencies and nonfungible tokens (NFTs). She maintains an active pro bono practice, assisting Afghan refugees to obtain asylum status in the United States.
Prior to joining the firm, Emily clerked for the Honorable Robert J. Shelby, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
Emily graduated Order of the Coif with Highest Honors from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. During law school, Emily was a Quinney Research Fellow to Professor RonNell Andersen Jones, focusing on the history of the Supreme Court’s jurisprudence regarding the freedom of the press under the First Amendment. Emily was also a research assistant to Professors Louisa Heiny and Matthew Tokson.
Before attending law school, Emily lived abroad with her family for six years, spending time in both Spain and England. Outside of work, Emily enjoys reading, watching old movies from the 1930’s and 40’s, and getting into debates with her teenage son.
