Overview: An In-Depth Analysis of the Issues, Voting Patterns, Doctrines, and Priorities That Defined the Recent Era of the Utah Supreme Court; a Discussion of How the Utah Supreme Court Will Approach Issues Moving Forward, Including Questions of State Constitutional Law; and a Review of Recent Changes at the Utah Court of Appeals.

Carol Funk
Carol Funk serves as chair of the firm’s Appellate Practice and as a member of the firm’s Litigation Section. Ms. Funk’s practice focuses on appellate litigation in state and federal courts of appeals, as well as complex litigation matters in state and federal district courts. Her experience spans a broad array of legal fields, including general contractual disputes, employment law, family law, products liability, securities, and white collar criminal defense.
Ms. Funk currently serves on the Utah Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Rules of Appellate Procedure. She has been voted by her peers throughout the state as one of Utah’s Appellate “Legal Elite” in 2021 as published in Utah Business Magazine.
She previously worked as an associate in the Supreme Court and Appellate Litigation practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. She also served as a law clerk for the Honorable John A. Pearce of the Utah Supreme Court, the Honorable Jill M. Pohlman of the Utah Court of Appeals, and the Honorable Priscilla R. Owen, first at the Texas Supreme Court and subsequently at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
