The Utah State Bar Banking and Finance Law Section recently named RQN attorney Douglas M. Monson the “2019 Banking and Finance Law Lawyer of the Year.”
Mr. Monson has been a member of the Firm’s Banking and Financial Institutions Section since 1982. He has extensive experience with commercial loan documentation projects involving numerous multi-million dollar loans, as well as loan workouts and lender liability strategy and resolution. He represents clients in commercial lending negotiations and documentation services, in commercial real estate financing, general corporate and business financing and agricultural lending. He also has experience representing secured creditors, bankruptcy trustees and creditors committees with both real estate collateral and personal property collateral issues in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
The Lawyer of the Year award recognizes an attorney who, over a long and distinguished legal career, has significantly contributed to a notable legal development in the banking/finance area of law, whether through litigation, transactional service, or legislation and/or has rendered extraordinary contributions to the programs and activities of the Banking and Finance Section.

Mr. Monson formally accepted the award at the Banking Section’s annual meeting on January 28, 2020, held at the Utah State Bar.
