Utah’s Board of Bar Commissioners presented RQ&N shareholder Janet H. Smith with the Dorathy Merrill Brothers Award, an award given to the person who has contributed significantly toward the advancement of women in the legal profession in Utah. This award honors lawyers whose professionalism, public service, and public dedication have significantly enhanced the administration of justice, the delivery of legal services, and the improvement of the profession.
Ms. Smith is chair of RQ&N’s Employment Law Section, and she also serves on the Firm’s Executive Committee. Ms. Smith has been included on the list of The Best Lawyers in America every year from 1989 through the present, and she maintains an “AV” rating on Martindale-Hubbell. She received her J.D. in 1976 from the University of Utah, where she was a member of the Utah Law Review. She earned a Master of Arts degree in African History in 1969 from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in American History from Utah State University in 1967.
Janet Smith is the co-founder of RQ&N’s Women Attorneys Group, along with Annette Jarvis, the 2005 recipient of the Dorathy Merrill Brothers Award for the Advancement of Women in the Legal Profession.
