Last week, RQN trial lawyers Matt Evans and Whitney Hulet Krogue, supported by litigation paralegal Susan Seder, prevailed after a complex five-day jury trial that resulted in the jury awarding compensatory and punitive damages to their client in an amount in excess of $800,000. RQN represented the Plaintiff, a commercial landlord, seeking damages against an alleged alter ego of a tenant that defaulted on its lease. The tenant was insolvent, leading Plaintiff to assert joint venture, alter ego, and fraudulent transfer claims against the tenant’s parent company. Although these types of claims are complex, the jury carefully evaluated the evidence and found for RQN’s client.
Lead counsel, Matt Evans, an experienced trial lawyer, represents clients in complex litigation cases, including commercial, trust and estates, securities, construction and tort litigation.
Whitney Hulet Krogue, a rising commercial litigator at the firm, played a crucial part in the trial—examining witnesses and arguing the legal issues connected with jury instructions and evidentiary motions.
